About Artwood Custom Homes

Jann Boyd and Joanne Clarke worked together on several projects before founding Artwood Custom Homes in 1999.  Artwood has expanded over the years to include several different divisions, such as carpentry, gasfitting and plumbing, concrete, project management, and glass art and etching.  Much of their custom woodwork and cabinetry are built right here on the Sunshine Coast, in their Roberts Creek facilities and headquarters. 

The Artwood team has a variety of experience.  The carpentry team has over 25 years of experience between them and the lead carpenter, Chris, has been with Artwood for more than 7 years.  The cabinetry staff has over 12 years experience, including our apprentice.  Our plumber and gasfitter has 30 years in his trade.

Jann began her career as a computer operator in the finance industry.  Later, she trained as a blacksmith and farrier which progressed to stable and barn building.  After working for local construction companies around the Nelson area, she started her own company, On the Level Construction and obtained her carpentry ticket in 1994.  Now with over 30 years of carpentry experience, Jann uses that experience to enhance her creativity and create exceptional quality homes.

Jo's professional life started with a commercial art degree.  She took up stained glass work as a hobby, but it became much more than that.  She owned and operated Transition Glass Works in Quesnel, BC for 10 years.  Her love of stained glass led her to glass sandblasting.  Furniture making came after her move to the Vancouver area, where she earned her cabinetry ticket in 1996 from BCIT.

From there she was recruited into the Henderson project with Jann.  Now with over 20 years of experience Jo loves to create beautiful pieces of art from the wood taken off the land that the new home is being created on.
