Darragh Workman, Part Owner
While in high school, Darragh learned a lot about the construction industry and sub-trades by working summers and weekends with his father, who is a Gasfitter. After high school, he entered Wholesale Plumbing where he studied Warehousing, Inventory Control, Purchasing and Book Keeping.

Darragh is highly proficient in hydronic heating design and installations, midlevel wiring, planning, troubleshooting and is a skilled equipment installer.

Having completed his apprenticeship with Sun Coast Plumbing many years ago, combined with his extensive business operations experience, Darragh was well suited to become Part Owner of Sun Coast Plumbing & Heating Ltd in Jan 2009. His current duties include design, scheduling, quotes and handling Customer and Contractor appointments

Darragh has three wonderful children, Brileigh, Tyler and Kevin. He is happily married to his wife Jana. In his spare time, Darragh enjoys motorcycling, hockey, snooker and baseball.

Pete Schalkx, Part Owner
Peter Schalkx has 22 years of experience in the HVAC and refrigeration industry; specializing in all aspects of forced air heating, geothermal and air source heat pumps, furnaces and boilers. He holds certifications in TECA for air and ventilation and with CGC for geothermal installation and design.

Pete is the former owner of True North Mechanical from Mission BC. Under his ownership True North looked after all of the gas appliances, coolers and freezers for 22 McDonalds Restaurants and numerous other restaurants, and they completed multiple residential geothermal systems and commercial warehousing projects. The most prominent project is the Mission Chamber of Commerce building.

He was part of the Terasen Gas Whistler Conversion Crew involved in changing the Town of Whistler from propane to natural gas prior to the 2010 Olympic Games.

He has extensive sheet metal experience and has also completed various factory training courses from equipment manufacturers. His knowledge of wiring systems, controls, and commissioning is extensive.

Pete has been married to his wife, Donna, for 19 wonderful years. They have 3 boys: Campbell (16), Karlin (14) and Ben (13). He enjoys camping and fishing with his family and friends.

Terry Connolley, Part Owner
Terry was an employee of Sun Coast Plumbing and Heating for 8 years before becoming a Part Owner in January 2009. He is a Plumber and Gasfitter, ticketed from Pacific Vocational College.

He has gained all of his plumbing and gasfitting experience locally on the Sunshine Coast with Sun Coast Plumbing & Heating.

He originally apprenticed under the company’s founder. And since then, Terry has led the company “on the tools” through various successful projects. Most notable of them would be the Painted Boat Resort including an extensive spa and commercial restaurant.

Terry is well travelled, having been employed as an open water Scuba Instructor in the Cayman Islands and the Bahamas. He has also spent time in Belize and Jamaica. He attained honors in Culinary Arts at Vancouver Community College.

Terry lives on an acreage in Gibsons with his 2 kids, 1 dog, 1 cat and a hamster. In his spare time, he can be found riding his motorcycle or spending time with his kids.

Marnie Ross, Manager of the Coast Kitchens and Baths Showroom

I have had the pleasure of working at the Coast Kitchens & Baths Showroom since August, 2008.  

I particularly enjoy getting to know my clients and helping them find the style that they are looking for within their budget. I am dedicated to making the renovation or building process as easy as possible for my customers.

I have almost always worked with the public and now manage almost all aspects of the plumbing showroom such as quotes, ordering, receiving and many other administrative duties.

I moved to the Sunshine Coast in August, 2005 from Northern Vancouver Island and now reside in Sechelt with my husband, 3 kids, and 2 dogs.

Sue Wilson
I was born in Souris, P.E.I. I was a navy brat, and schooled in Victoria, BC. I have 27 years experience working with the public in both security and the service industry. I started my book keeping and accounting career 10 years ago, and trained under a few well respected accountants.

I joined Sun Coast Plumbing & Heating in July, 2006 as their office manager / book keeper. My duties include all aspects of the office from answering phone calls, to entering and dealing with accounts receivables, payable, payroll, all government forms and preparing financial papers and other documentation for submittal to our off site accounting firm.

As for the personal end, I have resided in Gibsons since 1989 and have been married for 20 something years. I have two awesome foster sons (15 and 11) that have been with us for the last 6 years, and my “baby boy” Rudy (my dog, who loves coming to work with me and greeting everyone.)

We are a huge hockey/sports family (especially the Sunshine Coast Minor Hockey) and enjoy doing all kinds of activities together, including frequent visits with family in Victoria, Richmond and now Grand Prairie.

Al Workman (aka Al the Workman)
Al, a BCIT graduate of Plumbing, started his career in Industrial Plumbing by working at Vancouver General Hospital.

His experience also includes 5 years of Commercial Plumbing and 10 years of working at a Plumbing Wholesaler with his brother Darragh.

Al is a qualified Gasfitter and was part of the Terasen Gas Whistler Conversion Crew, involved in changing the Town of Whistler from propane to natural gas prior to the 2010 Olympic Games. He is proficient in renovations and commercial plumbing applications.

Al enjoys hockey, walking his dog and spending time with his family and friends.

James Meyer
James is soon to complete his 3rd year Apprenticeship for Sun Coast Plumbing & Heating. He has lived on the Sunshine Coast for 5 years and has been married to his wife, Tracey, for 8 years. James has 3 beautiful children.

He loves fishing, gardening, home renovation and spending time with his family.
