What about a career in the trades?
Earn while you learn! Through the Industry Training Authority and Sun Coast Plumbing & Heating it is possible to become a qualified plumber, sheet metal worker or gasfitter. Plumber and Heating Specialist
Apprenticeships combine technical training with on-the-job experience working under a qualified Sun Coast Plumbing & Heating Tradesman. The program leads to a Red Seal credential with an inter-provincial endorsement which means this credential is recognized throughout Canada.
In British Columbia, technical training for plumbers is available at:
BC Institute of Technology in Burnaby
Thompson Rivers University, Kamloops
North Island College, Northern Vancouver Island
The four-level program includes 26 weeks of technical instruction and 5620 work-based hours. Sheet metal training is available from BCIT, Okanagan College and Camosun College, while steam fitters can do their schooling at either BCIT or Camosun College.
